Oh yes, I am very much aware the grammar
is incorrect.
In fact, the thought itself is outdated.
My Irish Great-Grandmother used to
say it. What a fantastic reminder.
I don't know, and can't control what
happens next.
I do know this, though:
When I see a soul less fortunate than
myself:
Less optimistic,
Less "well off",
Less healthy,
Less attached to his or her family,
Less assured of a peaceful night's sleep,
I can say, "there, but for the
Grace of God, go I",
and be thankful
for what I have.
This week as I see
those
I am thankful "not to be" - no matter what
their station in life -
I will give thanks
that their struggles are not my own.
